Pavement Laboratory (Transportation Laboratory)

Manager :
Fransiscus Mintar Ferry S., MT ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )

PURPOSE
The Pavement Laboratory aids in the development of a fundamental knowledge of Asphalt Properties to Civil Engineering’s Students and UPH’s Students in common. From some measurements in laboratory working, numerous pavement performance inferences can be derived concerning quality and durability pavement (deformation, and aggregate segregation).

DESCRIPTION
The Pavement Laboratory has developed some modules to Asphalt Properties, like as: Specific Gravity, Softening Point, Lighting Point, Penetration, Viscosity Point, Water Contents, and Marshall Method. Research oriented versions of standard performance measurement systems have also been developed and utilized to expand understanding and potential areas of application. In addition to Laboratory Development, the Pavement Laboratory will use some tools (like as: Drilling Tool, Vehicles and Sensor System) in general purpose research both to support and to measure pavement surface characteristics.

PRODUCTS
1.
Developed and validated of both Coarse Aggregate and Fine Aggregate for measuring texture and aggregate segregation.
2.
Developed and validated of some Asphalt Properties for knowing the Specific Characteristics of them.
3.
Designed and built of Aggregate-Asphalt-Filler Mixture Samples for measuring The Optimum Compositions in Mixtures to design the best performance in pavement surface.

PLANS
1.
Studies technical information, computer software, analysis procedures, and data collection systems for pavement surface analysis
2.
The devices available, enable the analysis of network-wide and project-level friction, roughness, texture, smoothness, inside and outside vehicle noise, aggregate segregation, and rutting.

SERVICES and RATES
1.
Giving Service to Other Universities whose plan to do some modules in Laboratory Working The Price is IDR 50.000 / person / module. In one Semester (odd or even), The Maximum Groups are 3 groups. Each group consists of 5 persons.
2.
Giving Service to Other Companies whose plan to do some modules in Laboratory Working. The Price is IDR 300.000,- / module including Lab. Report.

CURRENT PROJECTS
1.
The Optimum Composition of Agregate-Asphalt-Filler Mixture in Marshall Method, which The Asphalt is Retona and The Filler is Nature Latex.
2.
The Optimum Composition of Agregate-Asphalt-Filler Mixture in Marshall Method, which The Asphalt is Retona and The Filler is Synthetics Latex.
3.
The Optimum Composition of Agregate-Asphalt-Filler Mixture in Marshall Method, which The Asphalt is Retona and The Filler is Fly Ash.
4. The Optimum Composition of Agregate-Asphalt-Filler Mixture in Marshall Method, which The Asphalt is Retona and The Filler is Coarse Aggregate Ash.

EXPERTISE
The Pavement Laboratory is run by persons who are the expertise of Civil Engineering with experience in pattern recognition, experimental design and analysis (engineering and statistical).
