Marincan Pardede received his Bachelor (SSi) degree in Physics from North Sumatera University (USU) in 1996. His Master and Doctor Degree in Optoelectronic are from University of Indonesia, in 1998 and 2003.

Since 1996, his research field is in Applied Atomic Spectroscopy using Laser-Plasma Spectroscopy for elemental analysis besides mechanism of laser-plasma generation. His research activity has been started since he was a master student, then continued into the doctoral degree research by collaboration with the Fukui University, Japan and University of Indonesia. After finishing his Ph.D he is active doing research in Maju Makmur Mandiri Foundation.

He joined the Electrical Engineering Department of Universitas Pelita Harapan since 2003. Currently he teaches Calculus, Electromagnetic Theory and Modern Physic.
