History Food Technology Department as a part of Faculty of Industrial Technology at Universitas Pelita Harapan was founded in 1995. In the beginning the department only had 9 students, along with several laboratory facilities, ie. Food Processing Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory, Quality Control Laboratory, Sensory Analysis Laboratory, and Chemistry Laboratory. In its development throughout the years more than 100 students enrolled to the department in 2004, and this number is maintained all the way through 2007 admission. The increase in the number of student body requires a development in the education process, such as on line e-journal access both for students and lecturers, and special laboratory facility specially designed for students doing their research project in their final year. In 2006, the department started its first dual degree program by conducting classes in English as well as in Indonesian. In July 2008, UPH Food Technology Department moved forward by sending 7 students to the University of Newcastle, Australia. These 7 students will take part as the first students ever participating in the dual degree program. |
